Engagement- Matthew and Anna

There is nothing better than a weekend in St. Augustine except a having a wedding or engagement shoot there as well (tax write-offs here we come!). Anyway, we had a very relaxing few days in the first city last week and spent a couple hours with this great couple walking and shooting throughout the historic downtown.

Matthew and Anna were tons of fun and it is a matter of weeks (well several) until the big day in Micanopy. We can’t wait! This where I shut up and say…….check out the photos.

Wedding- Chris and Delia (Rob)

To steal a line from my daughter- OMG! This was every bit the great event I expected it to be. Beautiful home wedding on Lake Santa Fe, great family and friends and of course Chris and Delia. You feel like you know them by the time you get through these images.

I had the hardest time editing this post. If I added all the ones I wanted, the page would never have loaded. Certainly going to file this one in the “Best Of” category!

Cannot say enough about the vendors here. The bottom line was that it rained, bad. It was great to see everyone come together and keep things moving seamlessly. Angela from Avi’e (along with her amazing new sidekicks!) just rocked the day. If there was a wedding coordinating competition out there, they would have stole the show. Celebrations Catering had one of the most amazing displays I have ever seen in a tent. Never got a chance to eat but the food looked to die for. Prange’s florist and their amazing flowers helped transform the day. It was just a fantastic event and we were truly honored to tell the visual story.

**WPJA- Witzel Named Top Wedding Photojournalist

Just got the results from the Wedding Photojournalist Association that I finished 2008 as the #2 international wedding photojournalist and ranked as the #1 photojournalist in America. If you know me I am not one to brag but please bare with me for a minute. YEEHAW!!!!!!!!

WPJA is far and away the torch bearer for promoting ethical wedding photojournalism and separating the pros from the hack. I could not be happier with my affiliation. I had no idea I was even in the running to be a finalist so I about fell out of my chair when I saw the email. Gotta give kudos to French photog Franck Boutonnet for winning the competition and fellow Florida photographer Genya Garrett
(go Sunshine State) who placed third. The results were based on 5 contests throughout the year.

Not sure what this will mean going forward. As long as I am booking with the kind of great clients I always have than everything will be perfect. Probably going to ramp up the marketing with this (I would be stupid not to). Being that I finished first amongst my fellow USA brethren and sistren is what makes me the most proud. By no means do I think I am the best but to be recognized by the WPJA as one of the best does not make me feel bad……at all.

Wedding- Matthew and Anna (Rob)

Editors note: I am posting this from a seat in the cafe of the Nickelodeon Hotel in Orlando- Sponge Bob is staring at me from across the way and it is just a sea of screaming kids. Fun O fun. Wanted to get this posted before we fly out for a week in Vegas starting tomorrow. It is Spring Break for the kids and travel is just crazy cheap these days. Better hurry up as we have a date to get slimed in about an hour.

Matthew and Anna tied the knot a couple weeks ago on a gorgeous March day at the Herlong Mansion. We have always loved the venue and its ambiance (never mind those ghost stories). This couple is classy, elegant yet quirky enough to put out a great vibe. I wish all b&g’s could be just like them.

My only regret on this one is they closed the reception down at 9pm because of some noise ordinance. Would love to of had a couple more hours of great moments. The later the night gets the goofier things always end up being.

I can hear cyber readers saying shut up and on with the show.

Nothing like a couple good looking Gator grads and a gorgeous spring day on campus. Jason and Natalie have a big wedding planned for next month so it was definitely time to do the engagement photos. We hit all the spots around The Swamp and headed over to the Rinker College of Construction.

We had 2+ hours of photo bliss. Enjoy the results!

Engagement- Tim and Sarah

This is one hot couple……a photographer’s dream. Shooting at the stadium was a natural as Tim played wide receiver for the Gators (Sarah’s dad played for Florida as well). College ball runs deep in the family with Tim’s dad coaching The Citadel team (they played UF last year).

I could not be happier with this selection of images. Not that this couple could take a bad photo but we explored new realms of the stadium. Its not always easy to make each shoot unique but I think we nailed this one.

Obviously I cannot wait for the big day in a few weeks.
