The Big Picture bio picture

Welcome

Welcome to the blog journal for Rob Witzel Photography. This is where we display our newest work and post important updates for our amazing clients and visitors. My wife Marian and I run a successful wedding photography business in Florida with the notion that today’s bride is looking for real moments by real photojournalists. We are the furthest thing from your typical wedding photographer and that is just the way we like it. Take a few moments to look at our work and let us know if you have any questions. Thanks for visiting and we hope you come back often!

My first quinceanara

As the title suggests…..I have never shot a quinceanara. Not that I never wanted to, just never came up. In this case it was my pastor’s daughter, Samara. Normally my approach would have been different. You know, getting ready and the build up. In this case I was trying to do something nice for this sweet girl who is also a friend of my daughter. I really only spent a couple hours getting candid shots. Love that it was at my church and was dedicated to Jesus. I love being able to serve.

Enjoy!

Wedding- Nathan and Fe (Rob)

Sometimes Sunday weddings are just perfect as is the case with this elegantly planned event. Had it been the day before it would have been a mud fest because it rained all day. This couple was blessed with a crisp and surprisingly cool Sunday with blue skies ans severe clear. The kind of day that is just perfect for an outdoor shindig.

Nathan and Fe were a blast to work with and so much fun. One of my favorite parts is when the groomsman threw down for a a sprint outside their cottage before the wedding and then hoisted Nathan above their shoulders. Never seen that before but it was a photojournalists dream.

As usual, Sweetwater Branch was picture perfect. Food was awesome and the staff was exceptionally kind.

All these great ingredients lead to great images.

Enjoy!!

She always beats me in the service to the bride and groom category…totally the utility wedding pro/go to player. Always nails some great moments as well.

Engagement- Ben and Caroline

I think Micanopy might just be the coolest engagement background in town. If its good enough for Doc Hollywood than its good enough for us. Also, I think this couple might just be the coolest ever. Not sure I have ever laughed so much on an e-shoot ever. They have their relationship rooted in the Lord and they walk it out for all to see. We know them from church and Caroline is our daughter’s youth leader. So needless to say we are super fond of them. Really wanted to go the extra mile for them but it doesn’t really work that way. We go the distance on every shoot. No extra miles laying around!

Engagement- Matt and Tonya

Oh boy…I just love this couple!

There are some people that get it and are naturals. Matt and Tonya are that way. Naturals. We spent more time with this shoot than normal because we just kept getting so many great moments. That is reflected by the length of this blog post.

As always, our goal with engagement shoots is for the people that know and love them to say- “YES, you captured them” and I really feel like we achieved that on this.

Hope you agree.

Enjoy!

Wedding- Joe and Michelle (Rob)

A beautiful day at the Thomas Center with an amazing couple like Joe and Michelle and you can get a supersized, superfun post like this. Joe is a great photographer in his own right so it was such an honor to be chosen as their photographer. Michelle is such a warm and open person to be around and that comes through in this collection of moments. We had the pleasure of working with the amazing coordinator duo of Amy and Rebecca from Adore who helped make it a perfect day.

So happy I am just going to shut up and share these images.

Enjoy!!

Wedding- Carl and Cathy (Rob)

Ever since our awesome engagement session we have been waiting for this wedding and it didn’t disappoint in any way. This couple and their entire wedding crew was so much fun to spend the day with from beginning to end.

In all our years shooting weddings in Gainesville we had never gone to the stadium for wedding portraits. I know that’s carzy! Luckily we saved up 10 years of photo-mojo for this one opportunity and rocked some great shots that I am sure they will both enjoy.

The bridal party got ready at the Hilton which we had not worked at in some time either. Nice being back in such a fine hotel. The Baughman Center was great as usual and of course the reception was at Sweetwater and I can never say enough flattering things about them. Everyone there is as nice as can be, the food is the best in town and the overall beauty and ambiance cannot be beat.

Enjoy!!

Wedding- Carl and Cathy (Marian)

Marian continues to amaze me with her amazing gift for weddings. Yes, she is a GREAT photographer. Yes, she totally save my butt when it comes to awesome portraiture. Yes, she was a wedding coordinator for 10 years and can put out some BIG fires completely in stride. Yes, she can do emergency dress and tux repairs like nobody’s business.

But she still comes up with new ways to blow my mind.

So, besides doing all the above at this event, she added emergency first aid to the mix. I will skip the details but lets just say it was a big deal and she had all the necessary supplies in her “emergency kit.” I don’t even know where the band aids are in our own house.

Enjoy her photos!!

Wedding- Kevin and Danielle (Rob)

So happy to share this selection of amazing moments of this super cute couple. We were so blessed to spend the day with this couple who actually serve on the worship team at our church. Their anointing was profound throughout the day as they always seem to have the perfect light, especially in the Baughman Center. Not to mention the amazing sunset at Turkey Creek where a flock of birds happened to fly over one of our portraits. Seemed like every time we turned around something amazing happened. I think that can be conveyed in the images and moments that we captured.

See for yourself.

Enjoy!!
